I travel from Pune to Kolhapur on many weekends. Usually I get the K.S.R.T.C (Karnataka State Transport) as I don't find much buses by Maharashtra State Transport which stops at Wakad stop. K.S.R.T.C. usually shows courtesy to people and get the passenger on bus stops and not only on bus stations as against ST buses(by Maharashtra govt.) They don't need passengers and often wonder why S.T. is not earning any profit. Conductor and driver show lots of attitude, which is very common and well accepted by people :-/.
Yesterday, as usual, I was waiting for Karnataka bus at Wakad stop. One bus came, I asked conductor for Kolhapur, he shook his head. I genuinely thought, that bus might be bypass or something, so I let it go. After some time, another one came, same thing happened. For third one, again same. Then I thought, these guys are lying. Then I decided to get on the bus anyhow, as it was very late, almost past 11PM, and get off on highway near Kolhapur, in case that is bypass.
For next bus, I get on the bus without asking anything to conductor, when bus started I asked for ticket to Kolhapur, and surprisingly he gave the ticket. When, bus got-in in Swargate station, which is central bus stand in Pune. I found the conductor telling "no" to people who were asking for Maharashtra stops. I again thought it might be the bypass.
Next morning, around 4, I found bus turning for Kolhapur on the highway. I was surprised. I got off the bus in Kolhapur, I searched for K.S.R.T.C.controller in Central Bus Stand, Kolhapur, to complain this, but there were none. I left the topic there.
But is this accepted? I agree, buses are from Karnataka state but this is not at all logical to allow only Karnataka people in Karnataka transport. They might be thinking, from Kolhapur onwards buses will be empty and they'll have some loss, this can be "understood" but not "accepted". K.S.R.T.C is government organization, it's primary goal should be to provide services to the people not just earn a profit This must be managment's decision to do something like this, or every conductor won't behave same, at same time.
